Seminar: Doing Business within Planetary Boundaries
24 april @ 09:00 - 10:00 CEST

Welcome to a seminar where Beatrice Crona presents the report Doing Business within Planetary Boundaries. Based on a decade of transdisciplinary research, the report integrates sustainable finance, ecological economics, resilience science, and Earth system science. It offers valuable guidance to businesses, investors, and policymakers, helping them improve the reliability of their assessments of nature-related impacts, risks, and opportunities.
Businesses and investors play a crucial role in addressing the climate and nature crisis, but this requires better ways to measure corporate activities based on planetary health. Economic activities are driving the breach of multiple planetary boundaries, threatening both business viability and global sustainability. To drive real change, companies must align with the planetary boundaries framework and ensure full, accurate environmental data. Beatrice Crona highlights key challenges and solutions for improving corporate reporting, nature-related risk assessments, and sustainable investments—turning emerging data and reporting trends into a force for sustainability.
Today’s speaker:
Beatrice Crona, Science Director at Stockholm Resilience Center Executive Director of the Global Economic Dynamics and Biosphere Program at the Royal Swedish Academy of Science. Beatrice Crona’s research spans a wide range of topics, but her recent work can be broadly seen as contributing to two key areas of transdisciplinary research: corporate and financial system sustainability and food systems transformation, with a particular focus on aquatic foods.
