DESCRIPTION:Swesif invites you to a seminar where Dr. Emilio Marti\, Associate Professor at Rotterdam School of Management\, will present key insights from his new report “Chains of Influence: Global Differences in ESG Shareholder Engagement and How Active Owners Can Leverage Them”. \nHow can investors leverage global differences in shareholder engagement to drive sustainability more effectively? \nDrawing on extensive research and interviews across 12 countries\, Dr. Marti will share how power relations between asset owners\, asset managers\, and companies shape ESG engagement practices — and how investors can adapt their strategies across different contexts. \nThe presentation will be followed by a moderated discussion led by Emma Sjöström (AP7\, Swesif board member) on what these findings mean for Nordic investors. \nDr. Marti will present key insights\, including:\n\nWhy shareholder engagement looks fundamentally different in owner-centric vs company-centric markets\nHow institutional structures influence the effectiveness of ESG dialogue\nPractical ways active owners can leverage these global differences to accelerate change and promote systemic sustainability outcomes\n\nThe presentation will be followed by a moderated discussion by Emma Sjöström\, AP7\, Swesif board member\, on what these findings mean for Nordic investors. \nSpeaker of the day:\nEmilio Marti is an associate professor at the Rotterdam School of Management. He is an organisational theorist with a keen interest in questions of corporate sustainability. Emilio is particularly interested in sustainable investing\, and the question of how sustainable investing affects corporate sustainability. Emilio joined RSM in 2018 after post-doctoral positions at the Saïd Business School\, University of Oxford\, and Bayes Business School\, City\, University of London. He completed his PhD at the University of Zurich in 2015. His work has been published in journals such as the Academy of Management Journal\, Academy of Management Review\, Journal of Management Studies\, and Organization Science \nWelcome!
